## What CarSnipe Does

CarSnipe is a browser extension that monitors Facebook Marketplace for new vehicle listings matching user-defined search criteria. When a matching listing appears, CarSnipe sends an alert to the user's Telegram account via @CarSnipeBot. The alert includes the listing photo, title, price, mileage, location, estimated drive time, and a direct link to message the seller.

The extension runs inside the user's own browser and reads only public Marketplace listing data. Facebook credentials stay on the user's device under machine-specific encryption and are never transmitted to CarSnipe's servers. Because it is an extension rather than a separate application, monitoring runs while the browser is open.

## How It Works

1. User installs the extension from the Chrome Web Store or the Firefox Add-ons site: https://carsnipe.com/download
2. User sends /connect to @CarSnipeBot on Telegram, which replies with a one-time pairing code
3. User enters that pairing code in the extension popup once to link the two
4. User creates vehicle searches in Telegram (make, model, year range, price range, mileage, location radius)
5. The extension checks Facebook Marketplace at the plan's interval (3 minutes for Pro, 15 minutes for Basic)
6. New matching listings trigger a Telegram notification with the listing details

## Requirements

- Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Firefox. The Chrome build covers Chrome, Edge and Brave; Firefox has its own build. There is no Safari version.
- Works the same way on Windows, macOS and Linux
- A Facebook account, for Marketplace access
- A Telegram account, for alert delivery via @CarSnipeBot

## Key Features

### Instant Alerts
Telegram notifications within 3 minutes (Pro) or 15 minutes (Basic) of a listing going live. Each alert carries the listing photo, title, price, mileage, location and a direct link.

### Custom Search Filters
Searches are defined by make, model, year range, price range, maximum mileage and location radius. The Pro plan runs unlimited searches at once; Basic runs two.

Every alert states the listing's distance from the user and the estimated drive time, so the decision to go and see a car can be made from the notification itself.
